Thankful Thursday

Happy pre-Friday! I am so excited for this weekend because it's my birthday! Not a significant number, but a lot of fun is in store! Now for the main event!

Thankful Thursday: girls night, hugs, clean water, the gospel of Jesus Christ, relief society sisters/instant friends, talents, steady income, health, heart to heart convos, technology, a place to call home, the innocence of children, Temples, genealogy, sharing smiles.

Also: I'm thankful for surprise early birthday gifts at work. One of our patients brought me this cute little soap that smells so amazing! It's patchouli scented, which is funny because I don't think she knows how much of a hippie I am. I can't wait to try it!

Also: I  love this guy! He's such a goofball and can always make me laugh. And that's one of my favorite things about him. Love you, Bubs! (That's an orange peel in his mouth btw. I know you all were wondering)

Hope you're all having a great week!

Six things about me!

Here are some lesser known things about me!

1) I started driving when I was 18.
2) I used to hate running. Now I don't mind it at all. It took some practice, but I'm doing my first 5k on my birthday this year! (Stay tuned for more about that!)
3) I grew up in Orange County & Riverside County. I think it's funny when my NorCal peeps talk about going to the "beach" when they really mean they're visiting a trip to the freezing cold coast.
4) I love drama tv shows, but hate reality tv. This equates to Pretty Little Liars, Grey's Anatomy, Gossip Girl and so forth. None of that Keeping up with the Kardashians garbage.
5) I'm kind of a hippie. I'm into holistic products like sulfate-free shampoos, face masks made of food products, I'm not into using medications whether over the counter or prescription, etc.
6) I'm a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Anyways, that's all for now! I'm gearing up for my super fun birthday weekend! Thanks for reading!

Thankful Thursday

Happy Thursday! I love Thursdays because the work week is almost over, which means weekend fun is just around the corner! It's more of a pre-Friday. I have a tradition of posting Thankful Thursday posts each week on Facebook, but now that my blog is up and running, I've decided that this will be it's new home! So here goes!

Thankful Thursday: natural DIY's, my talents, the talents of others, Bubs, the gospel of Jesus Christ, Mexican food, technology, courage, calming colors, hugs, the positivity of others, my literal and figurative sisters (and brothers), sunshine.

On another note, I've also decided to do a Weekly Obsessions segment too! (Thanks to SuperFruit for giving me the idea!) Yay for firsts!

Weekly Obsessions:
1) SuperFruit's YouTube videos. This is Mitch & Scott's (from the amazingly awesome a Capella group Pentatonix) Youtube channel! I love them!
2) Mexican food. It makes my belly happy.
3) Dried apples! Yum!
4) Burt's Bees Pink Grapefruit Chapstick. It smells so good!

That's all I've got for now. Until next time!

Our Story

My husband (Bubs) and I met at an LDS young single adult dance in June of 2012. He asked me to dance and asked me out on a date right after the song. I was hesitant to say yes. I mean, I didn't know very much about him! I agreed and due to scheduling conflicts our first date was a whopping 3 weeks later! We had our first date in July- we went to the Folsom Lake Aquatic Center & wanted to go kayaking. I didn't think to bring my ID, so they wouldn't allow us to rent anything! Thankfully, Bubs was a quick thinker and decided to take me window shopping at the Folsom Outlets (which wasn't too far away) We walked around and chatted for a while. I did my best to BS my way through conversations about sports and he still seemed interested in me, so as far as I was concerned it was a win! He introduced me to La Fiesta Taqueria and the food was to die for! (It's our favorite Mexican place!)

Fast forward to my birthday (8/2/12). He took me boating with some friends of his, and I went inner tubing for the second time in my life. It was terrifying! But everyone was really nice and they included me in all the fun! Bubs surprised me with a Peanutbutter cheesecake complete with 22 candles! It was at that moment that I knew that I loved him.

This was on my birthday. He showed up in his security uniform and we had a photo shoot!

Long story short, we dated that summer (probably only 6 dates total.  We were both working full-time and he was also going to school full-time! Whew!) and were engaged in September. We were married on April 27, 2013 in the LDS Sacramento Temple for time and all eternity! What an adventure it has been so far! Bubs is the sweetest, silliest, most honest person I know and I love him to pieces!
