I love the constant sunshine and warm weather. It's like living in a perpetual summer. I love it. I feel so at home here. But sometimes the grass seems greener on the other side. Sometimes I wish I lived in a small town somewhere in the South...but then I remember I don't care for humidity. Or bugs. Sometimes I wish I could have a white Christmas. Like in Colorado or something. But then I remember that I'm not a fan of any temperature that falls below 55 degrees. I love this state. It really is golden to me.
Since I grew up in Orange County, I always connected with the ocean. I played in it lots of times growing up. I don't care much for swimming in it as of late, but I love the sound. Even being near it makes me feel at home. When I get the chance to head down that way, I always make a point to go to the beach. Just driving down PCH with my music up and windows down calms my soul. Sometimes it's hard being so up state. I miss the warm sand and sound of the waves crashing on the shore. I miss feeling the sun warm my skin while I read a good book. I miss the feeling that I get of being carefree while I'm there.
On the other hand, I love Sacramento too. I've lived here pretty much since the summer before my senior year. I've grown up a lot here and I love all the memories I've made! I love floating down the American River and taking the boat to Folsom Lake. I love going downtown and checking out all the nightlife. I like taking trips to Old Sac. I love going to Apple Hill in the fall. I love winters here. I love that it actually rains here! (with the exception of this year...*sigh*) I love the biting cold that comes early in the morning. I love this place!
They are both home to me. The former as my home for my first 16.5 years. The latter for the the rest of my years. :)
Did I mention that this place is home to my favorite temple ever?
(This was an AMAZING day. I recieved my Endowments!)
One thing that I love about my two homes is that the Church (of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) is the same in both! ...and everywhere else for that matter! No matter where you go, the doctrine is the same. The Church is as true in the OC as it is here in Sac. I love that!
Thankful Thursday: the gospel of Jesus Christ, technology, General Conference, fluffy pillows, microwaves, calming colors, hugs, literacy, freedom, temples, the Atonement of Jesus Christ, eternal families.
So remember how I said in my last post I said I was already wanting to plan my next trip down to SoCal? A mighty miracle happened and two days into my work week, my boss asked me if I want to go to another training in Los Angeles next month! I was practically jumping up and down! As of yesterday my flights were booked. Seriously. I'm so excited!
