Home sweet home.

It's a great song and its also the topic of my days since Thursday when I headed down to Orange County for a work conference. My bosses were super generous and let me head down early (Thursday afternoon) so I could spend time with family before the conference started and stay late (it ends tomorrow night, but they're letting me fly out Sunday) to allow for more fun time. Here's my trip thus far!

...waiting to catch my flight to Orange County on Thursday 10/2. I snagged some food and settled in to watch Grey's Anatomy via Bubs' tablet, only to discover I forgot to bring my headphones. This is a problem because 1) Bubs has the quietest tablet on the planet & 2) airports are noisy. (Dangit) So I turned on the subtitles, which for some reason where in all caps, so I imagined every character yelling instead of just talking which made it very funny...despite the content of the episode to be quite somber. Ha.
I read this the whole flight. I sat in the middle seat because it was a packed flight. Luckily my neighbors were neither overweight nor chatty, so it made for a nice, relaxing flight. I enjoyed all 1 hour and 20 minutes of it.
Getting ready to touch down at John Wayne Airport.
Dad picked me up. It was good to catch up on the drive. I did not miss LA traffic.
Headed to Grandma Sally's (maternal grandmother) house on the way home. This is home base for me. I have so many fond memories here. It felt surreal to come back home.
Her sister, Peggy was visiting from the South for two months. It was so fun to catch up and find out how the family had changed and been added to! Grandma Sally is my second mom and I love her!
This is the holy grail of birthday calendars. It has every single birthday of everyone from Grandma Sally and Grandpa Ski to their kids (my mother and uncles) and the sisters/brother-in-law and the grandkids and great-grandkids. They have quite a legacy.
We then headed to the Katella Deli to get some Garlic Parmesan Bagel Chips per Bubs' request. We decided to grab dinner to-go too.
...Waiting for our food...
I got the Chicken & Avocado Club Melt. It was so good!
I texted this pic to Bubs. I got a reply of "YEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!" He was sad when I told him we only bought two tubes. He said that picture was deceiving because he was expecting four. Ha.
To be even more bratty, I sent him this pic with an "Mmmm...so good!" He was very jealous.
We finally got home at like 9pm and ate our food. I put Slap Ya Mama on my fries. (We sent dad home with some on his trip out to Sac for my birthday this last August)

Today/Friday 10/3:
This is Teenie Weenie Hut. He's my step-broski. He's a hoot. We took selfies on our way to Newport Beach/the land of my birth.
Could you tell I was trying to copy his faces?
This is how perfect it was. I was jealous of myself for being there.
...more LA-type traffic...my favorite part of driving to the beach is when we get off the freeway and can roll the windows down and smell the salty air.
 ...walking towards the Pier...
We stopped here for breakfast! (Teenie Weenie Hut, Dad and his wife, Shauna)
I had the chili. Why? Because life is short. And that's their specialty and I've been there a handful of times and never tried it. My report: it's super good!
...I told you he was a ham.
Next we headed over to our usual bike rental shop and got some beach cruisers!
The last time I rode a bike was 1.5 years ago when Bubs & I were here on our honeymoon! Luckily, it was just like riding a bike and I picked it right back up. (Ha) We went on a beautiful 4ish mile ride down the boardwalk.
This house had a "B" on it! And since my last name starts with that. Exact. Letter. I decided that it was fate. I needed to live there. Maybe someday...
Shauna & I cruised along at a leisurely pace and looked at the cute little houses, while Dad & Teenie Weenie Hut were speeding along 1/2 mile ahead.
We stopped at the ferry/harbor to  buy some souvenirs. I got two super cute postcards- one to write a thank you note to my bosses on and one to frame.
After we returned our bikes, we stopped at Jane's Corndogs so Teenie Weenie Hut & I could get cookies & creme milkshakes. Yum!
We then headed to the water because I felt that our beach trip was not official until we walked in the sand. So we did. And since the sand was scalding hot, we put our feet in the freezing cold water.

This is my room at the Hilton in Costa Mesa. It is really nice!

And of course, my breath taking view of the driveway and small parking lot. Ha. Did I mention that my training started tonight? I had an intro meeting for three hours and it was really intriguing. I'm actually looking forward to the seven hours of instruction tomorrow. Crazy, right?

Anyways, I have to call Bubs so we can read scriptures/pray/say goodnight so I can get to bed. It's going to be an early morning tomorrow! Love you all! Goodnight!
