Missionary Updates!

Hey, guys! Elder Arciniaga is offically in the MTC as a Missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints!

Here's his first ever missionary email!

Dear everyone,

The gospel is true. I have been extremely blessed to come here to the missionary training center! When I got the the MTC last Wednesday I was not sure that I would have an easy time adapting, but boy is it easy! The Lord gives us all trials that we have to overcome and I think that something I had to get over was pride. Not necessarily that I thought I was the most knowledgeable about the scriptures, because that is not true, but that this mission is not about me. Last Sunday we watched a talk by David A. Bednar directed to the Missionary Training Center about the Character of Christ, and the first thing he mentioned is that this mission is not about me. While I was watching it I felt inspired to write something down, and it nails what I was thinking, "Put away your pride, for there is a more important name on your tag than yours."

When I arrived at the MTC, I was put into a trio companionship. Elder Villeda and Elder Grover are super amazing and spiritual missionaries that know when to have fun! But sadly, Sunday our trio was broken up and then it was just Elder Grover and I. Villeda was paired with our district leader. So now it is just Elder Grover and I in one room, it's funny because each room has 6 beds, and there is only two of us in there. And all the other Elders in our residence are always telling us how jealous they are! I have an awesome district, we are like a family together. By the way, for anyone wondering, the food here is bomb! The first day we had chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes. We get unlimited access to soda and amazing meals every day like biscuits and gravy, ice cream from the BYU creamery, and even chicken cordon bleu! We got the opportunity to attend the Provo temple today and it was an awesome and enlightening experience. I have been praying a lot more than I ever have and I love the gospel.  My friends, our Heavenly Father truly loves us!  Anyways much to do! I would challenge everyone to better understand and appreciate the Atonement of our Savior Jesus Christ by reading Alma 42 in the Book of Mormon, and also read the last two paragraphs of the introduction page. I feel like this is what the Lord wanted for me and I feel like I am being converted to the gospel! Please feel free to forward this to all that I could not include.

Much love,
Elder Arciniaga
